[Vine] デフォルトフォント
製品版には MSフォント互換の LX フォントファミリを付属しているのだけど、ビットマップフォントをほとんど使わなくなった今、このフォントの価値はどれくらいあるだろうか。OOo とかで互換フォントとして使うのはアリというか便利だと思うけど、スクリーンフォントというかUIのフォントとして使うには若干古めかしい顔をしているように思う。
FTP版というか標準では Sazanami に M+1P を合成したものをいれてみたのだけど、これはそこそこモダンな顔になってくれる。もちろん漢字の汚さはかわらないけど、かなと英数のおかげでかなり違って見える。nonfree ではあるけど IPAフォントも用意した。これもまた M+1P と合成したものも追加したので、結構見た目はよくなると思う。
というわけで、今ある LX フォントファミリの中でそこそこモダンな顔をしているフォントということで LX MaruGothic を Sans にしてしまおうと思った。個人的にはかなり前から MaruGothic を Sans にしてるのだけど、デフォルトでやっちゃうのはやりすぎかなあと思ってそのままにしてる。でも MaruGothic といってもそれほど丸くないのでいいのではないかなあということで VineSeed ML に提案してみた。反応あるだろうか。
それとは別に、、、次の製品版にいれるフォントも考えないといけないのだけどなにか良いフォントあるだろうか。ヒラギノは美しいけどさすがにお値段が。。(というわけで御意見募集中)
個人的には小さいフォントでアンチエイリアシングされると、ボケた感じになるのがのが好きじゃないので、LXPGothic で小さいサイズの時は内蔵のビットマップフォントを使うような設定にしています。<br>ノートPCの液晶だとしょうがないのかもしれませんが、私的には次の製品版でもリコーフォントが入っていると嬉しいです。
私は個人的には terminal のフォントだけ内蔵ビットマップを使うようにしています。まあ基本は UXGA な液晶をつかっているから気にならないのかもしれませんが。(hinting がもうすこしマシなら antialias をかけてもあまりボケないですが、今のままだと上下にずれたりしてしまうのが難点ですね)

潮待フォントはわざわざ変えるほどのクオリティは感じられないように思います。(ベジェエじゃなくて直線なのが特に。。) それほど遠くないうちに IPA フォントのライセンスが改定されるという話なので、それまでの辛抱ということで。
UXGA くらいまで解像度が高いとあまり気にならないかも知れませんね。<br>ただ1024x768だとまだまだにじみが気になります…。<br>Hinting が改善されると嬉しいんですが、なかなか簡単じゃ無いんでしょうね。
freetype2-2.1.10-0vl6 で CJK での autohinting がマシになるパッチをいれてみたので、くっきりしたのがお好みであれば .fonts.conf で試してみてはいかがでしょうか？ hintslight ならそこそこマシに見えると思います。
フォントが変わりましたね。硬い感じからやわらかな感じになって良くなったと思います（あくまで個人的な感想ですが）。
