[font] VLGothic
VLGothicがいくつかのところで紹介されているようでアクセスが増えてきた。本当はもっと直したいのだけどほかにやることがあるのでとりあえず一時休憩中。ですが、Monospace 用に M+ 1M をつかったフォントが欲しかったので、まだリリースはされていないもののテストということで固定幅な VL-Gothicを追加した。また、可変幅な VL-PGothic の方も M+1P の英数字が若干幅が広すぎる感じがしたので M+1C に変更した。(サイズの大きい文字を読むとまだまだ気になる文字がおおすぎるけど、元のSazanamiよりはマシだと思いたい..)
いつまでもこのblogに置いておくのもどうかと思うので、そのうちちゃんとした独立ページをつくります。ここかvinelinux.orgにでも。それはまでは謝辞とかもこのへんに書いておきます。
謝辞: 和田研フォント、さざなみフォント、M+ FONTS の作者のみなさまおよび関係各者のみなさまに感謝いたします。ベースとなるフォントがあることで素人でもフォントをいじってみる気になりました。(とくにM+ FONTSのおかげで私のいじったところがイマイチでもかなりモダンな見栄えになっていると思います)
[vine] 4.0 beta1
開発者メーリングリストにスケジュールと予告は流しただけで、このブログにたらたらと書いていたらなにやら ITpro にニュースとして記載されてしまったらしい。(ついでに slashdot.jp にも..) いままでも roadmap にはいちおう書いてあったり、blogにも書いてみたりしていたが、あえて今ニュースとして取り上げるのは、さすがにこんどこそは出るだろうと見られたのだろうか。(ニュースになるようなネタなんだろうか。。。)
フォントがどうとかいわれているようだけど、クリアなライセンスなフォントとしていちおう頑張ってつくったVLGothicをいれてるので、無頓着といわれるとかなり悲しい。大した作業をしたわけではないとはいえ、フォントなんて作るのやめようかと思ってしまう。この手の作業はモチベーションを保つのはなかなか大変で、先人達のすごさを感じられる。まあ、この道のプロならまたちがうんだろうけど。
ちなみに、IPAフォントもnonfreeながらapt-getでインストールできるし、製品版には10書体くらいフォントが入っていて設定もされているし、優先順位はついているものの用意したフォントは特に設定しなくともちゃんとデフォルトフォントとして使えるようにしてある。TeX の環境も含めて。
まあそれはさておき、すでにイメージは準備おわって用意済みなので、今日中(まあ遅くとも夜までには)公開できるだろう。VMware のイメージは結局公表しないままになってしまったけど、欲しい人がbeta後もいるようなら用意してもいいかな。もっとも、普通にインストールしても 10分程度で完了してしまうのであえて用意するまでもないのかもしれないけど。 (むしろLiveCDのほうが望まれているに違いない)
[vine] Vine Linux 4.0 beta1 公開
Vine Linux 4.0 beta1 を先ほど公開しました。たぶんこれからバグがたくさん見付かるのだろうけど、いつものbeta1よりはいいのではないかとかってに思っています。とはいえ最近のマシンとかは持っていないし、CoreDuo/Core2Duoノートとかでどの程度動くのかとか、気になる。自分でつかっているものにつしては問題はないけど、それはたぶん無意識にうごきそうなものばかり選んでいるからだろう。(それ以外のバグも無意識に踏まないようにしているような気もする) ともあれ、ようやくリリースできたのであとはこれからバグフィックスに勤しむことにしよう。
VLGothicで気になるグリフがいくつも見付けてしまってどうしようか悩み中。。気になる文字があったら BTS にいれてみてください。そのうち直しておきます。

slashdot でフォントのスレッドを始めたものです。<br>Vine linux 日々利用させていただいており、大変感謝しております。<br>フォントに関する最初のコメントを気をつけて読んでいただければわかりますが、無頓着と書いたのは3.2以前のkochi-subst等のフォントの字形についてです。フォローされたコメントや、そこからたどり着いたこのブログで、VineLinux開発部隊はフォントに決して無頓着ではなく、対策がなされて前進していることがわかってとてもうれしく思っています。<br> 2.6から3.0に dist-upgrade したあとで、デスクトップの表示は比較的簡単に直ったのですが、アプリケーション：TeX関係(xpdfと印刷）の文字を綺麗にするために相当調べまわってファイルを修正する必要があったので、4.0への移行でまたその苦労をしたくない、というのが投稿の動機でした。<br> Vine Linuxは、新人が苦労せずにインストールしてすぐ使える最高のディストリビューションだと思いますので、今後にも期待しています。
はじめまして、長と申します。<br>早速、VLGothicを使わせていただきましたが、Windowsで使用した場合、等幅フォントとして扱われないようです。(IE,Firefoxのフォント指定画面でMonospaceフォントとして指定できない、等)<br>試しに、Fontforgeで、VL-Gothic-Regular.ttfを開いてフォントの情報を見てみると、どうも、プロポーショナルフォント/等幅フォントを識別する為の情報の設定値がおかしいようです。<br><br>以上、御参考までに。<br>なお、Fontforgeの画面のスクリーンショットを下記に置いております。<br>http://members3.jcom.home.ne.jp/feilung/VLGothic.png
