[Vine] Vine Linux 4.0?
先日ちょっと書いたVine 4.0だけど、ある程度中心的なコンポーネントも揃ってきたような気がする。動作自体はそこそこ安定していると思うけど、やはり難点は kernel の仕様が安定しないこと。udev まわりはようやく安定が見えてきたかなあというところで採用に踏み切ったのだけど、こっちもこのまま固まってくれるといいなあというところ。
Vine Linux のリリースまでのTODO(というか個人的メモ)をすこしまとめてみた。MLにはあとで投げるつもり。
- Kernel-2.6.16
ppc 待ち、x86_64 config の修正、x86 config 調整
unicon 修正、(bootsplash の unicon 対応) - X.org 6.9
ドライバアップデート - udev rules の調整?
- mkinitrd 修正
- teTeX-3 調整?
- インストーラ作成
- gnome テーマの調整
- サービス起動設定の調整
- Group:の調整
- セキュリティデフォルトの調整
- カテゴリの確定
と言う感じでまだまだ残っている感じ。エイヤとできる部分は多少あるけど多くは調整というところ。kernel/gnome/udev関連の時間のかかりそうな部分はようやく突破できたので、細かい調整をつぶしていくというところだろうか。
スケジュールの暫定的な見積りもしてみた。
おそらく4.0リリースは早くても7月というところだろう。仮りに7月と設定して逆算すると6月前半にbeta、5月前半にfeature freezeというところだろうか。ゴールデンウィーク明けにfreezeというところで、そのあたりにVine4 Tech. Previewあたりがインストーラ付きでだせるといいなあという感じ。
(もっともVine Linux 初期のような強固な意志決定はしないようにしているので、このスケジュールは想像の範囲でしかないけれど。。)
現状のVineSeedから大幅には変えるつもり(というかそういう雰囲気)はないけれど、なにか希望があれば今のうちにMLに投げるか、BTSしてもらえるとうれしい。
